Cheese and truffle recipe, a valuable variation of "Classic Alfredo Sauce." Great for seasoning all pasta dishes.
Gluten free
The sauce is ready to pour directly on freshly drained pasta. It can be heated over low heat or in the microwave, after opening the bottle and removing the cap. Ideal for seasoning pasta dishes and risottos or in combination with meat. Try it on hamburgers.
Alfredo sauce is named after Alfredo Di Lelio who in 1908 proposed "fettuccine all'Alfredo" on the menu of the family restaurant. In fact, pasta seasoned with butter and Parmesan cheese has been around in Italy since the 1500s, but Alfredo Di Lelio was the first restaurateur to give this pairing a gourmet value.
The recipe's fortunes came several years later in the United States where it became a symbol of the Italian community. It was two Hollywood silent film stars, Douglas Fairbanks and Mary Pickford, who made the recipe famous after tasting it during a trip to Rome at Alfredo's very restaurant.
