Bagna Caoda (which means "hot sauce" in Piedmontese dialect) is a typical Piedmontese product whose main ingredients are: oil, garlic and anchovies. It is served in special earthenware pans resting on small stoves that keep the sauce hot. The history of this sauce dates back to the Middle Ages when Piedmontese merchants brought home from their travels to other regions oil and anchovies, and gave birth to this sauce.
